Sunday is market day in Paris, and we hit up 2 fabulous ones. The first, on the Boulevard Raspail was a small, wonderful all organic food market, featuring amazing produce, meats and cheeses, plus a delectable potato treat which is not to be missed. The second, located by the Bastille, was the total opposite--part flea market and part food market, crazy and crowded with massive food stalls and vendors shouting out to passerby's. Both are definitely worth a visit.
Though it seems to be relatively unknown, Paris has the original Highline - the Promenade Plantée - which stretches for about 2 miles and takes you through a gorgeous tree lined walk among the charming rooftops of Paris. We took a stroll and then picked up some bikes and rode for a long while -- we've gotten the hang of biking here, sort of, and though it can be challenging (and quite hilly), it is the best way to efficiently see the city.
At night, we ventured well outside central Paris to the mildly sketchy 20th Arrondissement, where we played some dominoes on an amazing graffiti covered street and then saw the sunset over the Eiffel Tower in the Parc de Belleville. A late night dinner at the fabulous market-driven Chatomat was a perfect and fitting end to our market filled day, and we got home totally exhausted and ready for our adventure to Lyon early the next morning.
