Neither of us are too big on shopping , unless it involves food of course. So our journey through the swanky shops of the Marais didn't yield much (other than some really fabulous Camper shoes for me). Luckily, we went straight from clothes to surely one of the grandest food markets anywhere--Le Grand Epicerie in Le Bon Marche. This isn't the most beautiful department store food market we've ever been to (the one in Harrod's in London is much more elegant), but it is definitely one of the most comprehensive. Food products from all over the world, prepared foods, cheeses, meats, produce. A definite must go for food lovers visiting Paris (not to mention it's pretty much around the corner from a truly glorious and famous cheese shop, Quartrehomme, another must go).
One of the "must-do" activities on our list was a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower at night. We chose a restaurant, Cafe Constant, that was conveniently located only a few blocks away. After a fabulous meal in this bustling, no reservations bistro/cafe we headed over to the Tower to catch a birds eye view of the City of Lights at night. We were lured by the excitement of going all the way to the tippy top--a mistake we would not repeat again, as the lines were unbearably long and the view not as open or magical as the one from the second level. Once we got back down to the large second level we got to really enjoy the amazing view, and Matt had a chance to take some incredible photos.
