It's so cool to have so much time to spend in this amazing city. There is so much to explore here outside of the obvious toursits sites, and having 2 weeks allows us to see things we would never have seen otherwise. Like the Parc Des Buttes Chaumont yesterday. Or today, the enormous modern plaza of La Défense, the business district of Paris. Only a short Metro ride outside central Paris, this area is definitely worth a visit, not only for the crazy unusual architecture, but also because of the unique contrast of this space to the classic Paris that everyone knows.
After exploring La Défense, we headed back to central Paris, for a stroll down the beautiful Champs-Elysée, a fancy (but good value) lunch at one of Joel Robuchon's many restaurants, and a tour of the Louvre. (Enter through the Metro if you want to avoid the lines!)
Our evening ended in the Latin Quarter for Greek food, followed by a quiet moment on the steps of the church where Owen Wilson was picked up by F. Scott Fitzgerald in Woody Allen's film Midnight in Paris. No one picked us up and whisked us away to the 1920s, but we were ok with that...we are sure Paris is just as magic now as it was then.
